Puerto Rico offers breath-taking natural landscapes and a diverse array of geographic marvels. One of the best ways to enjoy these splendid sceneries is through horseback riding.
Horseback riding trails are easily accessible from San Juan, the commonwealth capital. The Hacienda Buena Vista is one of the ideal places to enjoy ocean views on horseback. Located one hour and 15 minutes away from the pier, this farm is situated on Palmas del Mar Beach Resort in the town of Humacao.
The Hacienda accommodates both beginners and experienced riders. Basic horseback riding skills and safety precautions are taught before the commencement of the ride. The guests will then enjoy a slow-paced ride on a trail that overlooks the Caribbean Sea. On favorable weather conditions, trails along the beach may also be taken.
Located on the north-west coast of Puerto Rico is Tropical Trail Rides, another horseback tour that showcases the natural beauty of the Caribbean island. Novice riders can enjoy a laid-back ride along the beach, basking on the soft sand and blue waters, while more advanced riders can take on the uphill terrain at the nearby Almond Tree Forest.
At the end of the beach trails, guests can then get off their horses and explore the rest of the area on foot. A short hike up a cliff is rewarded with postcard-perfect panoramic views. Guests may also check out the nearby caves or take a dip in the ocean. At the end of the tour, riders can opt to take a whole new trail in heading back to the base.
Tropical Trail Rides offers horseback tours seven days a week, with each tour lasting about two hours. Guests who like to enjoy the sunshine can take the morning ride which starts at 9 am while those who want to watch the sunset can join the afternoon ride at 4 pm.
