Canoeing in San Juan

One of the activities one can engage in when in San Juan, Puerto Rico happens to be canoeing. In fact, it's even said that canoeing is very much a part of Puerto Rican history – there is much speculation on the possibility that the early Indian settlers of the island actually arrived on dugout canoes. Today, getting on those small, narrow, paddle-driven boats (now often designed for only one person at a time) has become one of the most exciting pastimes in the world. Whether you're in it for sport or just float tripping, you're bound to enjoy canoeing in the waterways of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Many of the resorts and hotels standing in San Juan offer services and guided activities that would make your trip all the more special. There is no guarantee that all of them would be offering canoeing, but some of them, like the Caribe Hilton, advertise the activity on their website. It would be save to assume that canoeing is a fairly common activity that is promoted in San Juan, Puerto Rico because of the abundance of waters in the area. Seeing that it's rather close to the ocean, it would be obvious that canoeing in the shallower waters of the sea is one of the water adventures that one can partake in, although its more probable that you only get to experience the more traditional kind of canoeing by taking a trip to the nearby rain forests, where there are rivers or streams.

Canoeing is one of the best ways to take in San Juan's natural wildlife, and one of the best kinds of experiences that anyone could be challenged to try.
